Trash Day animals and hazards guide
Expect guard dogs, bee swarms, highway traffic, bear traps, rockslides and a river. Most animals are scheduling problems — distract and detour, do not fight the world.

The world fights back
The obstacles in Trash Day fall into three families: animals on their own turf, man-made traps and traffic, and terrain that does not care about your plan. The Next Fest announcement names the starter set outright: planks, bear traps, guard dogs, bee swarms and highway traffic, with rockslides and a river on the store page's list.
Hazard table
| Hazard | Where | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Guard dogs | Yards and properties | Distract them — the store page says the locals will "take your stuff" if you do not manage them |
| Bee swarms | Wilderness | Avoid the nest, keep the wagon rolling; swarms punish standing still |
| Highway traffic | Road crossings | Time the crossing, use the wagon as one big signal; do not race a truck |
| Bear traps | Trails and fields | Sweep ahead of the wagon; carry a plank to trip traps safely |
| Rockslides | Later areas | Do not stop mid-slope; clear rocks with teamwork, not heroics |
| River crossings | Later areas | Planks and bungee cords; bank loot before attempting |
Animals behave like locals, not enemies
The design intent is "distract animals on their own turf" — most wildlife is a scheduling problem, not a combat problem. In the demo, players were surprised by how much of the game is negotiation with scenery: you wait, you bait, you sneak past with the wagon.
Where combat exists, the visible action button in official screenshots (E) doubles as the interact/attack input. Use it to shove, poke and grab — not necessarily to fight a bear.
Terrain discipline
- Scout ahead by one wagon-length. The spotter's whole job is "what breaks the plan next."
- Push where the wagon leans, not where you want it to go. Physics first, opinions second — see the wagon guide.
- Splitting up is fine until it is not. One raccoon can hold the tongue on flat ground; hills need everyone back at the wagon.
What the demo never showed you
Rockslides and river crossings are full-game entries per the store page — the demo's hazard slice was lighter. Expect the second half of the six areas to be where the physics stops being funny and starts being structural.
