Trash Day demo vs full game
The demo is one finished area of six. The full game adds five more areas, new obstacles and the complete soundtrack on October 13, 2026.

The short version
The demo is one area. The full game is six areas, with new obstacles and the full soundtrack on top. If you finished the demo in about an hour and wondered whether that was most of the game — it was not. About one sixth of it.
What is in the demo
- Released June 11, 2026, free, and still listed on the store page.
- Went through Steam Next Fest in June 2026 and received six patch notes/hotfixes between June and August.
- The store page describes it as "multiple zones packed with a slice of the physics puzzles, hazards, and scavenging" of the full game.
- Steam reviews sit at 629 reviews, 596 positive (Very Positive) as of October 6, 2026.
Demo vs full game, item by item
| Feature | Demo | Full game |
|---|---|---|
| Areas | 1 | 6 ("one area — the full game adds five more") |
| Obstacles | Sample set | New obstacles per area |
| Soundtrack | Demo set | Full soundtrack |
| Co-op | Up to 6 players, online | Up to 6 players, online |
| Progression | Checkpoint economy (deposit trash, buy tools/repairs/cosmetics) | Same loop, across six areas |
Will the demo stay up?
The store page still carries the demo listing, and the September release-date announcement explicitly points players at it for "pre-launch raccoon training" — so it is live as of today. The team has not said publicly when or whether it will be retired after launch. Check the store page before counting on it long-term.
Does progress carry over?
Not confirmed either way. Nobody on the team has published a statement about save migration from demo to full game, and the demo's own patch notes never mention saves. Plan for a fresh start, and treat any carry-over as a bonus if it happens.
Should you play the demo before launch?
Yes, and there is a practical reason: the full game's first area is the demo's area. You arrive on launch day already fluent in wagon physics, checkpoint banking and how badly a plan can go. That is time the game does not have to teach you again.
