Trash Day Guide

Trash Day wagon physics and hauling guide

Quick answer

The wagon is a physics object, not a vehicle: push where it leans, re-stack after bumps, put wheels back on mid-haul, and bank loot before steep ground.

The wagon is the game

Every system in Trash Day funnels into one object: a stolen wagon full of trash. It has weight, it has wheels that come off, and it has opinions about hills. Learning it is the difference between a haul and a disaster.

The physics rules that matter

SituationWhat to do
Wheel falls offPick it up and put it back on — the game expects repairs mid-haul
Wagon flipsFlip it back. Unload first if it keeps rolling
Steep climbOne raccoon steers the tongue, the rest push from the back and sides
OverloadedLoot falls out on bumps — stack heavy items low and to the middle
About to tip sidewaysPush against the lean; do not sprint into the turn

Toss, stack, pray

There is no inventory grid, and that was a deliberate design decision. The team wrote in April 2026 that a neat slot-based inventory "completely ruined that messy, tactile vibe" — so it was deleted. Everything you bring must be physically tossed into the wagon and stacked so it does not fall out while you push the whole thing down the road.

Practical consequences:

  • The oversized-funny-item tax is real. A microwave or a boombox rides worse than a stack of small valuables.
  • Load order matters more than load speed. Two players tossing at random, one player arranging.
  • Driving through obstacles shakes the pile. Bank loot at checkpoints before the risky sections.

Tools that move the wagon

The game gives you a workshop of junk to solve terrain with:

  • Planks — ramps, bridges, levers, and the seesaw-launch trick.
  • Bungee cords — lash loads down, sling the wagon, or make a bad plan worse faster.
  • Bear traps and other hazards — on a long enough timeline, everything is a tool and everything is also a trap.

Start with planks. A plank that bridges a drainage ditch saves ten minutes of pushing.

Co-op roles that actually work

  • Tongue steerer — first position, calls the line, never oversteers.
  • Push crew — behind and on the low side; pushes where the wagon leans, not where it "should" go.
  • Spotter/loader — re-stacks loot after every bump and scans ahead for tools.

Rotate roles every area or two. The wagon handles differently loaded, empty and angry.
