Trash Day hats, skins and cosmetics
Hats and cosmetics are confirmed and sold at checkpoints with scavenged trash money. Non-raccoon species are only an 'if there is time' maybe.

Dress your raccoon
Cosmetics are one of the three things checkpoints sell (alongside tools and wagon repairs), so looking ridiculous is a system, not an afterthought. The store page's promise is simple: "Climb, scurry, and scamper your way through the world. Wear a hat."
What is confirmed
| Item type | Status |
|---|---|
| Hats | Confirmed — explicitly promised in the store description |
| Cosmetics at checkpoints | Confirmed — the Next Fest announcement lists cosmetics as purchasable |
| Species / skins beyond raccoon | Not confirmed for launch. Requested loudly; the FAQ says "we would love to expand the number of furry friends represented if there is time before release" |
| Emotes (patty-cake, trumpet, frisbee) | Confirmed as sandbox interactions in the demo |
The species question
The most-persistent request on the Steam forum is a thread titled "Opossum Skin please" — 11 replies deep. The developer FAQ answers the wider version of it directly: "While raccoons are the priority, we would love to expand the number of furry friends represented if there is time before release."
That is a maybe, not a roadmap item. If a possum, fox, tanuki or cat skin ships, it will be found here first — this page is checking at launch.
Chonk status
Asked "where are my chonky trash divers?", the FAQ answers that the team updated the raccoons to have more chonk than early footage suggested: "Let us know if they have not reached their peak physical form!" Cosmetic chonk is, apparently, adjustable by community demand — the highest-leverage feedback this game has.
How to get cosmetics quickly
- Haul trash and deposit at checkpoints — that is the only currency path confirmed so far.
- Buy cosmetics at the checkpoint between areas, the same vendor that sells repairs.
- Prioritize repair-critical spending first; a stylish raccoon with no wheels is a static exhibit.
